 Alienware Unveils Powerful M18 R2 Gaming Laptop with Intel Core i9-14900HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090


At CES 2024, Alienware took the wraps off its formidable M18 R2 gaming laptop, equipped with the high-performance Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics. Here's a closer look at what this gaming powerhouse has to offer.


The Alienware M18 R2 boasts an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor featuring 24 cores and 32 threads, reaching impressive clock speeds of up to 5.8GHz. Paired with up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory and support for up to 8TB of NVMe M.2 SSD storage, the laptop ensures a robust gaming experience. Users can configure the M18 R2 with NVIDIA's top-of-the-line GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU.


The laptop offers various display options, including an 18-inch QHD+ panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and 3ms response time. Alternatively, users can choose an FHD+ display with 1920 x 1200 resolution and an ultra-fast 480Hz refresh rate, also with a 3ms response time.


Alienware enhances the gaming experience with features such as ComfortView Plus, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and AMD FreeSync with Dynamic Display Switching. Both display options provide 300 nits of brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and an anti-glare coating.


The laptop incorporates a 97Whr battery for decent unplugged use. For power, the M18 R2 comes with a 280W 7.4mm barrel AC adapter for the GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 models, while the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 models receive a more robust 360W small form factor GaN FET power supply.


In terms of CPU options, users can choose from the Core i7-14650HX with 16 cores, Core i7-14700HX with 20 cores, or the flagship Core i9-14900HX with a staggering 24 cores.


Memory configurations include 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB options, with speeds ranging from DDR5-5200 to DDR5-5600, depending on the chosen model.


For GPU options, Alienware offers the GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs, both equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory and featuring a 115W TGP. The higher-end RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 Laptop GPUs come with 12GB and 16GB of GDDR6 memory, respectively, with a 150W TGP and 25W through Dynamic Boost.


Storage choices include single configurations of 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSDs, or dual-storage setups of 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB.


The Alienware M18 R2 starts at $1899 and will be available for purchase from January 11.
